One of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland, Old Pulteney has been produced in Caithness since 1826. Indeed, the distillery is so remote it was once only accessible by sea. A vibrant herring trade would see casks of silver fish and golden whisky transported around the world from Caithness Harbour.
This cool North Sea location plays a key role in shaping the beautiful Old Pulteney whiskies, all of which are matured on site to fully benefit from the cool, salty, fresh sea air. The style of whisky here is soft, honeyed, elegant and with a lovely sea-breeze finish, thoroughly enjoyable. Old Pulteney: The Maritime Malt.
The 18 year old is matured for 18 years, this is indulgent and spicy thanks to the casks selected for maturation.
Taking its character and colour entirely from the casks within which it has been nurtured, this is a deeply warming whisky. The indulgence extends through this single malt with chocolate and spice defining the character but allowing for the influence of more vibrant zesty flavours.

The story of the Knockdhu distillery, and the outstanding whisky it produces, were brought to life by a man of vision. The discovery of pure water springs on nearby Knock Hill, coupled with a landscape rich in peat and barley and the nearby Great North of Scotland railway line, presented a golden opportunity to John Morrison, who purchased the Knock estate in 1892.
