Matured in ex-Bourbon and casks that previously held peated whisky, The Huddart has an intriguing aroma, with creamy nougat, smoked oats and yoghurt, soft honey, and coastal flowers. A sweet yet spicy palate, opening up beautifully with a drop of water, and a waxy candle smoke touch on the finish. Delicate and elegant.
One of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland, Old Pulteney has been produced in Caithness since 1826. Indeed, the distillery is so remote it was once only accessible by sea. A vibrant herring trade would see casks of silver fish and golden whisky transported around the world from Caithness Harbour.
This cool North Sea location plays a key role in shaping the beautiful Old Pulteney whiskies, all of which are matured on site to fully benefit from the cool, salty, fresh sea air.
