The velvety smooth finish of the El Dorado 21 Year Old is acquired from the French Savalle Still. This rum also features cognac-type notes which are accredited to the Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still. These blends contribute to a finish that is nutty and smoky.

Nose of mocha, toffee, tobacco and dark spices. The mouth is velvety smooth with full body of tropical fruits, coffee, leather and rich toffee.

About the distillery

The story of Guyana Rum dates well back to the 1640s with the introduction of sugar cane by the early European settlers. By 1670, the foundation of Demerara Rum production was laid down with the establishment of distilling into the new territories by the British.

By 1780, there were over 300 distilleries producing their own unique rums, each with its own marque identifying its origin. Unfortunately by the turn of the 20th century, thanks to an unexpected drop in the price of sugar and the introduction of taxes, by 1942 there were only 9 remaining distilleries. And in 1999, a final merger of the remaining sugar estates and distilleries by transfer of the various stills, equipment and expertise by Demerara Distillers Limited at the only active distillery in Diamond, on the East Bank of the Demerara River.

Drawing on 300 years of craft, passion and wisdom, El Dorado's rum-making legacy is world renowned. With original distilling equipment and heritage stills, El Dorado combines the traditional with the technology of today, capturing every ounce of their rich history in the full expression of El Dorado Rums.
