Peated and unpeated spirit matured first in the strong foundations of American rye casks form the basis of the new Dùn Cana single malt from the Isle of Raasay. But it's the secondary maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry quarter casks that give this whisky its character.
This release exudes peppery spice, dried sultanas and hints of vanilla with a finish of lingering salty chocolate and a light hint of aromatic wood smoke. Another belter from the team at Isle of Raasay Distillery!
The first legal distillery on the Hebridean Isle of Raasay. The magical Isle of Raasay lies off the West coast of Scotland in the Inner Hebrides, separated from the Isle of Skye by a short 25 minute ferry journey.
Rooted in centuries of illicit distilling, Raasay provides the ingredients for the perfect dram. Every drop of spirit is distilled, matured and bottled on the island using water from the Raasay Distillery well.
The classic Isle of Raasay Single Malt is matured in a combination of 3 different oak casks, put together from a 50:50 mixture of peated and unpeated whisky, distilled and matured separately. The style is rich, fruity and dark, with beautiful balance and exceptional flavour.
A gin is also produced at Raasay using ten carefully chosen botanicals, including Raasay juniper, rhubarb root, sweet orange peel and our triple distilled spirit. The result is dry, zesty and refreshingly smooth.
