Torabhaig Legacy Series Ch. 4: Sound of Sleat Single Malt Whisky, 46.0%

10 items left

Sound of Sleat captures Skye’s rugged strait in liquid form: a brooding, deeply smoky single malt that beckons with maritime sweetness and the warmth of a bonfire by the shore.

Sound of Sleat is the fourth chapter in Torabhaig’s Legacy Series, chronicling their evolving “Smoke with Taste” style. This expression uses a bespoke blend of Concerto and Laureate malted barley, peated to over 78 PPM, then fermented with 100% Pinnacle MG yeast for 72 hours. Every drop matures in first-fill American oak barrels before bottling at 46% ABV, without chill-filtration or colouring, preserving the spirit’s full character.

After malt grist is mashed and fermented slowly over three days, the new make spirit is distilled twice in copper pot stills. It then spends years in Quercus alba first-fill American oak casks, where tropical warmth meets Atlantic storms to shape its “Smoke with Taste.”

Pairing Suggestions:Smoked salmon canapés, sea-salted dark chocolate or a peat-roasted lamb chop.

Tasting Note:On the nose, is delicate orange and apricot sweetness with maritime seaweed, popcorn and pipe tobacco, rounded by honey and vanilla. The palate is rich bonfire smoke melds with light oak spice, honeyed vanilla and sea salt, balanced by white pepper and sweet spice. Lingering and elegant on the finish, like a Skye sunset. Honeyed warmth, ocean storms and briny echoes.
