We have taken 120 bottles of the happiest and saddest accident in the whisky world. While bottling several casks of an over 20-year-old Speyside single malt (on the market at over £400/bottle) it was discovered that there were ten litres of residual 10-year-old blended whisky in the pipes. So while our friends at St James's have labelled this whisky as 10 year old blended malt, it is in fact over 99% over 20-year-old Speyside single malt and less than 1% 10 year old blended whisky. By law it has to be labelled as the youngest whisky in the blend. At £45 this is a rare opportunity to enjoy a bottle most can ill-afford.
