Bottled at 56.2% without chill filtration or added colouring, this peated Arran Single Malt displayts all the freshness of the island house style, with an added puff of smoke and earthiness. Produced in the Lochranza distillery, the Machrie Moor is named for a mystical peat bog on the windswept west coast of the Isle of Arran.
Nose: Citrus notes with a background of peat and a puff of smoke
Palate: Robust and rich, with typical Arran orchard fruits, toasted brioche and red berries
Finish: Citrus, smoke, chocolate, vanilla and coconut
With its dreamy mountains, glens, rivers and fields, the Isle of Arran has long been known as 'Scotland in miniature'. And no miniature Scotland would be complete without a pagoda-topped whisky distillery!
Thus, when 'Hal' Currie was on the hunt for the perfect location for a new Single Malt distillery as a retirement project, Arran provided the perfect spot.
The Distillery production began in 1995 and produces around 600,000L of completely unpeated whisky per year.
