High Coast Cinco Swedish Whisky

High Coast Cinco is a unique and ambitious Swedish single malt that explores the full spectrum of sherry influence. Aged for an average of 8.5 years and bottled at 50.5% ABV, Cinco is a limited release that blends whisky matured in five distinctive sherry cask types: Oloroso, Fino, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado, and Palo Cortado.

This unpeated whisky began its journey in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a curated mix of Spanish and American oak sherry casks. Originally intended for a masterclass, the cask components proved so compelling in combination that they were instead bottled as this one-of-a-kind release. With just 5,195 bottles filled, High Coast Cinco offers a rare insight into the complexity and harmony of multiple sherry styles in whisky.

Production:

Crafted from unpeated pilsner malt sourced from Vikingmalt in Halmstad and fermented with French distillery yeast (Safwhisky M-1), Cinco benefits from a long 80-hour fermentation. The distillation cuts are made with precision to emphasize fruit and finesse: first cut after 13 minutes, second cut at 67% ABV. The resulting spirit is matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 2.7–5.6 years before transfer to a mix of 11 sherry casks, including Spanish and American oak, then bottled at a robust 50.5% ABV.

Pairing Suggestions:

The rich sherry profile of Cinco makes it ideal for pairing with fig and blue cheese tart, Ibérico ham, or dark chocolate with sea salt. For vegetarians, roasted beetroot with walnuts or a manchego and quince crostini would highlight its sweet and savoury layers.

Tasting Note:

A multi-sherry embrace of stewed fruits, candied citrus, toasted nuts, and dark berries. The palate delivers waves of dried fig, cocoa, and warming spice, with silky sherry sweetness balanced by oak tannin. The finish is long, complex, and quietly luxurious.
