Kilchoman Batch Strength 2024 Release Single Malt Whisky, 57%

5 items left

The Kilchoman Batch Strength 2024 Release is a triumph of bold flavour and expert craftsmanship. Bottled at a powerful 57% ABV, this single malt is matured in a carefully chosen blend of re-charred red wine casks, oloroso sherry butts, and bourbon barrels. Each cask lends its character, resulting in a dram that perfectly balances Kilchoman’s hallmark peat smoke with rich, intricate layers of flavour.

Kilchoman’s 100% Islay philosophy ensures every detail is attended to with care. Barley grown on the family’s 2,300-acre farm surrounding the historic Kilchoman Church is harvested, malted, and distilled on-site, embodying the farm-to-bottle ethos. The peat levels, at 50 parts per million, add a smoky depth that intertwines beautifully with the richness imparted by the re-charred red wine, sherry, and bourbon casks. It’s a testament to the Wills family’s dedication to traditional whisky-making and innovation.

Tasting Note: On the nose, it bursts with red fruits, fresh cherries, heather blossom, and a heady waft of intense peat smoke. The palate delivers toffee, vanilla, and warming spices, all underpinned by a lasting smokiness. The finish lingers luxuriously, offering silky notes of fresh crumpets, butter, and honey. This is a whisky that rewards slow savouring and pairs perfectly with moments of quiet indulgence.

About the distillery

Kilchoman is more than a distillery, it’s the Wills family’s labour of love, and their passion resonates in every drop. Established in 2005 by Anthony and Kathy Wills, Kilchoman revitalised the traditional farm distilling ethos on Islay, an island famed for its smoky single malts. Today, their sons James, George, and Peter carry forward the family’s commitment to excellence, overseeing sales and marketing while Anthony acts as Master Distiller and Kathy runs the welcoming Visitor Centre.

Central to Kilchoman’s identity is their “100% Islay” philosophy, a hallmark of integrity and craftsmanship. The distillery controls every step of the process, from barley sown in their fertile Islay fields to the final bottling. This commitment to local production ensures their single malts are deeply rooted in Islay’s landscape and traditions, offering whisky lovers an unparalleled experience of authenticity and quality.
