Mount Gay 15yr old, Barbados Rum, 43%

This rum is part of the distillery’s new “Exceptionally Aged Collection”, a range that highlights transparent age statements and long-term maturation as a core expression of quality.

The story of this rum spans more than a decade and a half of careful custodianship across three Master Blenders. It begins with former Master Blender Jerry Edwards, who distilled the spirit on a single column still and laid it down to mature in ex-American oak bourbon casks in Barbados’ tropical climate.

As years passed, the rum was passed into the care of Allen Smith, who oversaw its slow evolution between 2010 and 2019. Today, it is brought to completion by current Master Blender Trudiann Branker, who has continued monitoring its development since 2019.

In 2025, Branker finally completed the blending of this long-matured stock, uniting different casks into a final expression that represents 15 years of shared vision, patience and continuity. The result is not just a blend of rums, but a blend of eras in Mount Gay’s modern history.

Tasting Note:

• Zesty grapefruit, buttery pastry and ripe banana, layered with vanilla, caramel, plum and soft cinnamon spice.
• Palate of rich butterscotch and caramel open the palate, followed by orange zest, cocoa nibs, red plum, banana and citrus fruits. A subtle coastal salinity adds lift and balance.
• Finish is medium and rounded, with lingering vanilla sweetness, gentle spice and soft oak warmth.

Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, caramelised banana dishes, and roasted or glazed meats such as pork or BBQ ribs.
