Named after the sea that lies behind the distillery, Torabhaig Sound of Sleat Cask Strength captures the wild energy of Skye’s southern shores in every drop. This is the fourth chapter in Torabhaig’s Legacy Series, reimagined as a batch strength expression that delivers remarkable intensity while staying true to the distillery’s “Smoke with Taste” philosophy.
Bottled at a powerful 60.2% ABV, this single malt pushes the boundaries of flavour with over 78PPM of peat in the malted barley and 19PPM in the glass. A whisky of depth and distinction: smoky, spicy, unapologetically coastal, yet elegantly balanced.
Produced entirely on Skye using traditional copper pot stills, Sound of Sleat Cask Strength embodies Torabhaig’s meticulous approach to whisky-making. The malt, peated to over 78PPM, undergoes a 72-hour fermentation in wooden washbacks before double distillation. The spirit matures for 5–6 years in American oak - 75% first-fill bourbon, 20% virgin oak, and 5% refill bourbon - developing layers of toasted oak, salted honey, and charred stone fruit. Each cask is carefully selected to amplify Torabhaig’s signature maritime smoke and complex texture.
Perfect with chargrilled venison or smoked mackerel pâté; equally superb with grilled aubergine or mature cheddar for a vegetarian pairing.
Rich waves of coastal smoke, brine, and toasted oak give way to orange barley sugar, spice, and seaweed. A long, elegant finish with a lingering island warmth.
